Spatial analysis of air quality in New-Work City by neighborhood and health outcomes.

A significant challenge in New-York city is air quality. Air pollution causes serious health problems for many people living in urban areas, including asthma and heart disease. Although air quality has improved tremendously, there are still many premature deaths and hospital visits attributable to air pollution health concerns. Neighborhoods with the highest poverty percentages and highest PM2.5 concentration have the most incidents of asthma emergency visits, hospitalization and cardiovascular hospitalizations as explored in this spatial analysis project.

Spatial Distribution of Migrant Deaths

The international refugee crisis has persisted for nearly two decades, and the problem is not on the decline. Despite international laws to regulate migration and provide protection for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants face physical dangers, exposure, and risk of capture and assault by smugglers or gangs. Many migrants do not survive the journey. This project seeks to understand the spatial distribution and geographical relationship of migrant deaths in the last five years.
